I need to do have two agents connected to the phone in a training scenario and trying to find a cheap solution.
Can I use a regular 3.5mm stereo split. I experimented today, by inserting my music headphones into the phone ... i got audio on the left ear and could speak into the right side.

(I've used a bunch of RJ45 splits in the past and been very happy with those, but now my phones use a jackplug on the side).
Any pitfalls ordering a dozen of this type?
Thanks a lot !
--- Edit ---
1. Will it work? ( Anyone done this? )
2. Will the microphone gain be so reduced that it will be hard to communication?
3. The professional splitter cables, do they have any hardware which does things differently?
4. Where does the microphone signal go? Could I solve anything by adding a Stereo Jack to 3.5mm Mono Plug Adapter to eliminate the microphone signal on the listening side?
Any help in the right direction would be helpfull.
Thanks.

A basic split worked quite well, the headset performance was slightly reduced but not too much, listening carefully at the caller-side there was a slight hiss-sound, this sound would have goone undetected if we hadn't been looking for faults.
