CLearing DNS entries without restarting SIP or linux

Post by airwolf_DUP »

HI Guys

My first post here, I have been setting up SIP external gateways using dns_srv requests. It all works great apart from when the IP is changed for my SIP proxy server. I change it in my DNS but the original is still stored in the OXE cache, restarting the SIPmotor does clear the cache but results in my SIP extensions and trunk groups going oos. If i restart the nscd daemon would that clear the cache and enable a new DNS lookup?

cheers

And why does the Proxy has to change IP Address? In a normal enviroment it will maintain a static IP Address.

Yes your right, the SIP proxy would not normally change its static IP, but my question was would restarting the nscd daemon clear the cache in the unlikely event the proxy IP did change
