DTMF tones for programming and release feature
Hi All,
Here is an issue I am running into. It has actually affected a few areas I deal with. On the campus where I work when someone makes an emergency call from an elevator or emergency phone they stay off hook for anywhere from 4 minutes (emergency phones) to 15 minutes (emergency phone in elevators). Our Public Saftey department receives all emergency calls. Both types of phones will hang up if you enter certain codes. But they do not recognize this from a digital set. Even when I have to program the emergency phones I have to use a butt set in my office to call them since they do not recognize my digital phone when i use this. Has anyone else run into this situation and if so what have you done to correct it. I can use a butt set but our campus police department cannot use an analog phone because they need to see where call is coming from on their main set.
Is there some setting in the switch that will allow these devices to recognize the tones coming from my digital sets.

I am not quite sure what you mean by activating DTMF mode? I did not realize there was a setting that allowed you to do that. If so is it listed under Phone features COS or where specifically do I find it? What I am trying to do is when a person pushes an emergency call button on a phone the operators can end the call by entering a code for instance ##7 and this will cause the phone to hang up. If the operator simply hangs up the phones do not recognize they have hung up and go into a off hook setting until it finally times out in the system and releases the line. I have messed with wink back on the emergency phones and makes no difference. The emergency phones do respond to DTMF when i use a butt set as i mentioned. So any insight or how to activate DTMF mode on digital sets I would appreciate. Thanks.
For DTMF from digital set. You need to have (translator/ prefix plan) prefix - External feature - DTMF end-to-end dialing. (I prefer to use "*" for this prefix). (sometimes you need suffix DTMF end-to-end dialing - the best from my point of view - the same "*").
You dial number, set answer, press "*" (or your real prefix), you can dial in DTMF mode.
Difference between prefix and suffix. When you call outside, wait answer and dial "*" - used PREFIX DTMF end-to-end dialing. When you call outside and dial "*" before answer - used suffix DTMF end-to-end dialing.

Here is the thing. The operator is not placing the call. This is an emergency phone where a person presses a button. I will include a link so everyone knows what i am talking about. So for programming a phone that would be great so I can now use my office phone for that but the bigger issue is the realease of emergency call box. Any thoughts?

So i created a suffix using * and it is set to DTMF end-to-end dialing. So i call the emergency phone to see if i can try and program it. When phone picks up i dial * but as soon as i try to enter the first number, which is a numeric password to allow me to start programming the emergency phone remotely i get a display that it say "wrong number". So any suggestions of what i am doing wrong?
