Video Conference

Post by ybelal »

Hi
we are using omni pcx 4400 Enterprise rel-7.1, is it possible to make video conference in our system using Alcatel ip phones or any other solution in alcatel for video conference? Cisco IP phones have this option. If it is possible, please give me some hints how to do that, please.

Thanks.

You can use the Unified Communications Suite (MyTeamwork) for this.
Other solution for peer-to-peer video could be a sip-client that supports video. In that case the video has nothing to do with the oxe, just with the client.

But we need SIP extension license in oxe, am i right? do we need to use alcatel SIP softphone only or we can use SIP soft phone like x-lite with alcatel?

If some one could explain a little bit more or could put some links where i could find detail and clear information on sip based video ccall/conference in alcatel , that would be very helpful for me.

Thank you.

You can use a lot of third party sip clients together with the OXE (this is the advantage of an 'open' standard like sip).
Of course there is no guaranty from Alcatel-Lucent that pbx features will work correctly.

If you use x-lite, I thought you were not able to use video. You need to upgrade to the 'professional' version of x-lite, Eyebeam.
Same for transferring calls. This isn't possible from x-lite.

In order to use video on SIP endpoint the communication must be end to end, not through GD. GD is incompatible with SIP Video by my knowledge. Moreover I think you must use SIP device, not SEPLOS.

If not, you can use BRA boards with specific devices.

The new MyIC phone will have a USB connection where you'll be able to plug a webcam.
But it will be only between MyIC phones I believe. Your best solution is still SIP phones. What are you trying to do exactly , what kind of calls ? I understand video calls, but from where to where ? If its regular lan line, BRA boards with POLYCOM conference modules would be your best bet.
