Alcatel IP touch 4028 autonegotiation problem after Ethernet switch reboot.

Post by dlamalice »

Hello !

I have some trouble with Ethernet autonegotiation and IP Touch 4028 10/100/1000 connected on a 10/100 Ethernet switches (ExtremeNetworks x250).

IP Phone and switch are configured in autonegotiation mode.
IP Phone are in DHCP mode with 802.1Q

If my Ethernet switch is powered on, there isn't any problem.
I can plug ip phone and these ones are booting normaly (step 1,2,3,4,5).
Speed negotiate to 100 Full duplex and everthing works fine.

Problem appears when my Ethernet switch reboot (ie: in case of power outage),
IP Phone are rebooting faster than Ethernet switch and are blocking in step 2/5.

When I look on switch port, I can see 10 Full duplex but no mac address.

After few secondes, IP Phone reset but links still remains in 10 Full.
When I look on Ethernet switch console, I don't see any mac address on IP Phone port.

The only way to unblock, is to unplug and replug ip phone and after this action boot sequence finish normaly.

I have tested with POE switch and non POE switch and probleme is the same.

I don't understand why IP Phone automatic reset doesn't reset Ethernet link, and I think this is why autonegotiation doesn't restart after reset.

If I disable autonegotiation on switch, or on ip phone, or on both side, I don't have this problem. But I want tu do autoneg.

Is it a known ip touch problem ?

Does I have to upgrade ip touch firmware ?

Any other idea ?

Thanks for in advance for your help.
