ALU7750SR - overall issues

Post by arm11 »

Hello Team,

I have some overall questions concerning 7750SR.

1. If all of the above services are supported by the ALU7750SR? If not, which one is not supported.
- VPWS,
- VPLS,
- VPRN,
- MLPPP,
- VPDFS.

2. Which signalling protocols of MPLS label are used by ALU7750SR?
- RSVP-TE,
- LDP,
- CSPF.

Thanks.

1. VPWS, VPLS, VPRN, MLPPP are supported by 7750SR. Dont know what does the vpdfs stand for.
2. Both LDP and RSVP can be used. CSPF can be used as well, its utilized together with rsvp-te.

I have yet two another questions (relate with ALU7750SR)

1. In MPLS, can you tell me which router is responsible for taking an ulabeled packet and encapsulating it with an MPLS packet? Ingress Label Edge Router or Egress Label Edge Router?

2. The system address is used in case of configuring OSPF or BGP protocols. It must be configure when we want to communicate with another router int the some OSPF or BGP area - I see. But could you explain me more accurate meaning "router-id" in the OSPF and BGP protocols? I read the definition but I am still a bit confused.

Thanks in advance.

Neither of your questions relate specifically to the 7750 but:

1. Ingress means "going in" or "entering". So it is the ingress PE router that does label imposition on the way into an MPLS network.

2. A router-id uniquely identifies a router and is needed by both BGP and OSPF. It is used for various things such as part of the best-path selection process in BGP and in OSPF to elect a designated router. If a router-id is not explicitly defined, the system address is used. But best-practice is to define it explicitly. If you read about how the BGP and OSPF protocols use router-ids it should make more sense to you why they are important.
