Backup from R5.1 to R5.2

Post by mbaledent »

Hi all,

I just make a fresh install of OmniVista 4760 R5.2.2.0.b
I previously I was in R5.1.06.03.
I made a backup using maintenance > SERVERNAME > Databases - Immediate backup.

But when I try to restore this backup on my new release, il takes very long time (why not) and at the end of the operation, I can't see my PCXs. I only see alarms.

So first, is that possible to restore a backup from an older version to a new one ? Or is the backup only valid from a version to the same one ?
I remember few years ago that I was able to restore a backup between different version but maybe it is not possible anymore ?

Then, I see in the RestoreContext.ini file that ther are some differences between releases (database sowtware, etc.) and especially the svSuffix value. The value in the backup file is not the expected one save_restore: Error: [1] - key "svSuffix" has different values. So I just edit it manually with the expected value and the restore run till the end. But no PCXs appears in the directory (as well as in configuration and topology). Mabye it's not enough to edit this file and there are some effect I don't know about...
Do you think that I should make a new install with the expected value in the "Compagny" field (in install steps) ?

Finally, I check directly in the database file nmc5.db and I can see my restored PCXs. But they are not displayed in the directory.

What's wrong with this restore ?

You advices are really welcome !

Thanks in advance,
Regards,
M.B.

DB backup upgrade between Releases is not supported by 4760.
Just install 5.1, restore DB backup and then install 5.2 over 5.1 installation - the installer will do upgrade of SW.

Hello,

Install Software matching to your Backup, then restore and install latest Patch for R5.1.
Then Upgrade to R5.2.

Good luck!
