ALU Policy on After Market/ 3rd Party Resellers

Post by popquiz »

Does anyone have specific knowledge beyond the typical hearsay and ALU corporate guidance on purchasing of aftermarket parts for placement in ALU purchased equipment, e.g., Bought 7450 ESS7 and need to buy more 10GbE ports. I would like to buy from ALU but even at discount their price is 4x higher than aftermarket for 2-Port 10GbE MDA.

Does the purchase of aftermarket parts void your warranty? Does it nullify a valid support contract? Can they refuse to provide support and/or service?
The same question goes for 3rd party optics and aftermarket retailers of ALU equipment.

As a point of clarification, "After Market/aftermarket" has specific meaning to a supplier dealing in only valid ALU parts previously sold and returned for upgrade, etc.

Thanks You

Alcatel only provides support to BP, not end users like you.
When you send a part for repair doesn't matter who is the end user as long as the part is still on warranty, there is always a charge.
You can send to repair same part over and over again, or ask for a replacement if Support says so.
