Hi guys,
First of all, thanks for the help. Here is my case:
I had made an integration of an OmniPCX Enterprise R9.1 with a Third-Party PBX trough a SIP TRUNK. Everything it's working like a charm (Transfer calls, conference, hold on calls, call backs, etc etc). Now, I need to be sure of the licenses i need for the OmniPCX in order to assure that at least 700 users can talk trough that trunk Link.
The license for SIP Trunk on my OmniPCX are:
185 SIP Gateway = 1
188 SIP network links = 4
I used only this two lines to made the interconnection and test the scenario.
And my questions are:
1- I understand that the "SIP network links" tells me the max. number of concurrent calls. So i supposed that i need at least 350 channels aprox (acording to earlang law). Is that true?
2- I am not sure what SIP Gateway license is for. Can someone explain it a little more clear to me?
3- Apart from "SIP Gateway" and "SIP network links" Licenses, do i need any other license? maybe for codecs or any other?
4- The most important question. Can i still buying licenses for this Release? (R9.1) or do i have to make an upgrade first?
Thanks to all!!

Re: License Help - For OmniPCX Enterprise R9.1
1. Yes
2. Number of SIP trunks
3. No. HW for compressors only.
4. Will depend on your BP. I think yes. But without support I doubt it. To sell something new to an expired user will ask for support contract probably. No sense to sell something without support.

Re: License Help - For OmniPCX Enterprise R9.1
really sure with point 3? i think he'll need g723 and g729 server licenses for activating the compressor hardware.?.
another pro to point 4is that alcatel-lucent has implemented more features in sip in a newer release.

Ohh well, I assume he already has tested on desired codec and only wish to increment his base. Same for new features, as he says all works fine I see no benefit on selling advanced features on simple implementation.
Re: License Help - For OmniPCX Enterprise R9.1
yes, i can agree with you cav. so it just depends on his future plans with the oxe.
Now it's your turn Hars1959.

Re: License Help - For OmniPCX Enterprise R9.1
i agree for codecs , especial if you have hybrid pabxs :lot of kind of users analog , tdm needs compressor , if full ip& sip direct rtp should help
@cav are sure for point 2 i had sofware lock 185 =1 (sip gateway) and as per system doc this lock can have the value 0 or 1, but i can creat 3 external sip gateways with no panic flag ; i think 185 is only to active the internal sip of oxe ;
for hars 1959 you should control 188 swlock and related compression sofwarelock g723,g729 serv and client may be you need also to add some hw

Re: License Help - For OmniPCX Enterprise R9.1
According to docs is for SIP Trunks, not for SIP External Gateways.
Usually I receive licenses with bigger numbers so never had the scenario where I could overpass the lock number...so no real experience there
just theory
