License error "unexpected event"

Hello,

I have an OXE R11.01 with 8770 R2.5 running, also an OTMS. All is licensed and was working fine.
Because of upgrade of OTMS and domain changes, I installed a completely new instance of 8770 on a new server. Same license, but different FQDN.
The old one is not active any more since the new installation. I didn't import anything. I just installed a new 8770 R2.6 and synchronized all nodes.

Everything is working just fine. Configuration, backup, synchronisation and all jobs are running without failure.

But the 8770 can't check its license with OXE. In the log "NMCLicServer_1.log" I get following messages:

I am also in contact with ALU support, but they couldn't help me so far. After 10 days I get a warning, then a major and at last a critical alarm.
Regarding TCV039-ed07 the services of 8770 will stop after 31 days.
Changing the license to another key and backwards resets the counter, but doesn't solve the issue. ALU says, that it's a ftp problem. But 8770 can do everything via ftp. I also checked ftp and maintenance user.

The only thing, that appears on OXE in the directory /usr4/tmp/ov4760/uc is an empty "Preventfile.lic" and an empty "4760_lock_"new FQDN 8770""
The "Preventfile.lic" shouldn't be empty.

I suppose, that the OXE still knows the name and IP of the old server, which isn't active any more, and blocks the license checks with new 8770.

Does anyone have any idea for this? I would be happy for anything that solves the problem.

delete oxe node from OV.
Go to Oxe and remove the /usr4/ov4760 folder (backup it before, of course).
create the node on OV again and synchronize.

thanks for Your help. I've done so, but unfortunately it didn't change anything.

Still an empty "4760_lock_"FQDN 8770"" and an empty "PreventFile.lic" on OXE and logs, that tell me unexpected events and that the 8770 is not registered while it should be.

I can provide You any logs You need.

And I still got no news from ALU support.

Sorry i forgot 1 step.

You will have to get another .sw8770 license file (maybe from another client, from one lab, or even an older version file) and substitue on 8770\etc\nmc.license (make backup before).

Restart NMC or the server.

Get your original license back.

Restart NMC or the server.


Remember to have the ov4760 folder deleted from OXE before starting NMC with the license.

This procedure is necessary to "tell" NMC that a new license is installed so it has to be registered again.

Thank You very much, but ALU support already told me and I tried several times. The only thing that happens is, that the counter for unexpected events will be set so 0 again, but increases on next day.

I'm sorry, but that didn't solve the problem.

Or shall I combine this procedure with the removal of the OXE in 8770?


I think, that OXE still knows the old 8770 name and locks the new 8770 name, which comes with same license.

Yes you have to combine it.

a) Remove /usr4/tmp/ov4760 folder on OXE
b) Remove OXE node from OV8770 configuration
c) Change license file and restart NMC/Server
d) Change license file to original one and restart NMC/Server
e) Create the OXE node on OV8770 configuration
f) Synchronize

I think it worked, but now your problem is with the credentials or network connection problem.

Can you connect through ftp from omnivista machine to oxe and log on with adfexc user?

Yes, I can do everything.

Synchonisation, backup, alarms, everything is working fine.
I can connect via ftp with adfexc user and also have access on this directory with it. there I can create and delete files, just as supposed.
I can make updates from this server via PC Installer, can also connect via telnet and ssh.

there is also no firewall between.
