Creating multiple VRF on 6850E

Hi Everyone,

Sw1------------------------------qtagged or trunk -------------------Sw2----------routed port-----------------------Sw3

If i create say 3 vrf vlans on switch 1 then interface between sw1 and 2 should be qtagged carrying all the vlans right?

Will the above setup work or i need to create 3 physical interfaces for each vrf between switch 1 and 2?

Also if i need to config static route for next hop for each vrf from switch2 then do i need again 3 ports between sw2 ans sw3?



Here qtag is trunk port right?

Hi,
vrf are for routing (layer 3). All vlans (layer 2) are created in default vrf. So you don't need vrf in sw1. And you need only one physical port between sw1 and sw2.
If you need vrf than you do only need it in your router (switch 2). There you have to configure the ip interfaces (associated to your vlan) and the routes per vrf. Also to sw3 you need only one port.
