Re: External alarm
You can manage phone feature COS - routing mode at off hook=external alarm.
For analog user - manage good name, phone feature COS (like described before) and ext.alarm equipment=Closed or Opened loop.
After this management - when you close or open loop (f.e. lift or hang-up handset) - you will have alarm - external alarm with name=name decleared in user parameters.
You can ajust number and severity for this alarm if decleare routing table 0-24, 25-49, 50-74, 75-99. As I remember number will be 1100+routing table value. And severity will be increased with next range (0-24 and so on).
Mainly (in my practice) this feature used for access control (f.e. in room with PBX) and for power supply alarms connection. You connect relays from power supply controller to Z-port, make management like discassed (with user name f.e. Power_alarm) and when you have problem with power - you have incident (PBX, 4760NMC).

Re: External alarm
I have a client with many nodes that uses a Z port on each node to connect to the system UPS. When the power goes off and the UPS runs on its internal batteries, we get a 1187 alarm.
This is a great feature.
