The system is working fine now on R7.1 with the changed network file.
Only problem is still the 30 days limit.

So I'm very interested in this 'another story'....

Delete/Rename software.mao to software.old, reboot, once reboot rename software.old to software.mao again, run spadmin and there you go. A reboot just in case.

Hi All,
I am new here.
Can someone enlighten me regards to the error I have during the installation of R6.1 and R7.x in the VMware?
I have changed the MAC address and follow the instruction slimphony.blogspot.com but still face the problem. I can see the new MAC address during installation of the linux ram but the PCinstaller status bar in not running.
Anything is that, how can I enter anything in the VMware window. Whenever I click on the VMware window, the cursor disappear and have to ctrl & alt to activate the cursor again.

Thanks in advance.
Ric

The Appliance Server does not use the Keyboard/video-output after loading the linux-kernel and starting it, so the only use of the VWware screen is to set up the bios for network boot.
After starting the kernel all output is on the COM-port (=serial port or V24-port). So is there any output on the COM-port?

There are two solutions. First solution is discripted here under "Step 2 : Configure a serial port on the VMware host"
This solution uses a named pipe proxy. You connect to the proxy with telnet.

Second solution:
You have to configure VMware like above but you use a trial version of a terminal emulation which is capable of handling named pipes itself (without a proxy)
You can get the time limited trial version of ZOC here.

You have to get the com port running to get the installation done or at least get some better error messages from the serial console.

If you did not get the com port running you can not have changed the MAC in the right way.
