It is well documented that STP is not supported on the MC-LAG domain, so why do you expect that it works?
The Virtual Chassis will support STP.
VTP and DTP are proprietary Cisco features, if you are in a multi-vendor environment use GVRP or MVRP to dynamically advertise VLANs.

Anyone who has a 6900?

Re: Anyone who has a 6900?
We have two pairs of 6900 running in multi-chassis configuration, using mc-linkaggs between a SAN and vmWare hosts. We've had a lot of problems. Is anyone else here using them for NFS/iSCSI SAN applications?
Re: Anyone who has a 6900?
Well not that easy... as i learned the hard way and it is now (after my complaint) documented..benny wrote:It is well documented that STP is not supported on the MC-LAG domain, so why do you expect that it works?

MC-Lag will not forward STP.. BUT ONLY if your MC-LAG Pair has the right STP configured:
Cisco using rapid-pvst+ attached to MC-Lag will happily announce their STP over the MC-LAG. causing root-bridges for Cisco Switches somwhere in the network..
When everything is configured as pvst+ the MC-Lag filters the STP thus effectivly breaking up the global stp (as desired..)
Documentation now states:
By default, only 802.1D (STP), 802.1w (RSTP), and 802.1Q (MSTP) BPDUs are dropped on MCLAG ports. Enabling PVST+ compatibility (spantree pvst+ compatibility enable) is recommended when connecting MCLAG devices using the PVST+ protocolThis was missing in the past (and was at that time not known by L3-TAC as well)
With dtp and vtp you are right, still it's something to remember to take into account - but i didn't manage work out how to use MVRP/GVRP like vtp - i think it's a bit different idea behind that. In my (short) test i was not able to e.g. distribute all vlans to all switche or distribute the "needed" vlans to the switches (and their uplink). Afaik with mvrp the host-port has to be mobile and needs to announce the desired VLAN.
VTP just lets you assign a vlan to a port and will (when needed) transport this VLAN on the uplink, purging int when not needed.. Still i did not invest much time in testing as copy/paste the vlans was way quicker..
@MWLosRios: I have 6900 as MC-Lag at a customer who has EMC as SAN for his ESXi attached there.. but i don't know whether he uses iSCSI or NFS or... never heard of problems there. What problems do you have?

Re: Anyone who has a 6900?
hello
WE have put in production a Hospital with 12 6900 in backbone.
- 3 buildings
- 2 6900 in multichassis group / building
- 2 6900 in stan alone / building for datacenter connectivity
- techno between building is ERP crossing 6900 in MCgroup configuration.
SW : 7.3.1.GA
Actually no issue seen (some in 7.2.1) but now it is stable.
hope it will give you trust.

Re: Anyone who has a 6900?
I have trust..
The thread ist pretty old (i created it before the first 6900 were available - when we ordeed them).
So far i have multiple installations with 2*6900 as MC-LAG in Core and apart from the first release/setup i have not encountered any errors so far (still 7.3.1 is buggy when it is running on OS10k with redundnat CMMs . i opend around 4 SR/PRs for that).
Looking forward to the first "stacked" installations.

I am having Alcatel 6900 and highly recommend this products for business users as they required most demanding networks.
