3. My A/1 port is working. But I can't ping anything:
PING 10.10.10.254 (ip of the mgmt port)
No route to destination. Address: 10.10.1.0.254, Router: Base.
I can SSH or telnet into the router.
There are these lines in bof:
address 10.10.10.254/24 active
static-route 10.10.0.0/16 next-hop 10.10.10.1
TIA,
Thank your for your information about cards.
Can you tell me something about the above situation with the mgmt interface and the "no route ... " problem?
It is true no configured routes except the static in bof. If it is enough why I can't ping the host from which I
can SSH into the SAR?
TIA,
You need to ping in the management routing instance.
Code: Select all
*A:SR03# show bof

The ports A/1 and B/1 are not in the base router.
Try
ping 10.10.10.254 router "management"

Hi Guys ,
Is there any traffic generator software that i can integrate with GNS3 with vSROS ? I'm planning to configure some basic QoS and see how it works...
Regards
Ed

Unless you have special software, the VSR is limited in bandwidth to around 125 packets per second. You can provision QoS, but you can't actually test it out. I've overloaded mine with BFD packets. Couldn't figure out for the longest why I couldn't get the BFD to stay up.

I lost count at 20 VSROS versions available on the Nokia website. It's a PITA to download everyone of them and load them into GNS3 to find out.
Has anyone downloaded a version with ANYTHING other than the single five port 1gb card? Has anyone been able to get any other cards loaded? I'm specifically looking any SONET card to provision aps.

Cards are defined in nvram.dat file. I don' t know code for sonet card.
22 = M5-1GB, chile_r6$6 = MS-ISA, cyprus_xcme_20_r3 = M20-1GB

I tried it and was not able to get it to work. is there a reference with this information I can download from the Alcatel/nokia website?
All alcatel gave me was an installation document that made no mention of nvram.dat

In nvram.dat you can define type of chassis, cpm-s, iom-s and mda-s. It is used for distributed vSR which means separate vm-s for cpm-s and iom-s. I have not tried distributed vSR but I could add new mda to my slot 1/2. At the end of the nvram.dat you should see 22|0 which describes your mda-s and that is default configuration. 22 is M5-1GB and 0 is not equipped. Once you change 0 to let say 22(smth like 22|22) and reboot the vSR you should see 2 mda-s in your slot 1.

Thank you zeips!!
I was able to set up a second 5 port card on card 1 mda 2. I just needed to add some adaptors to the qemu config page. Having a second mda expands the lab potentials greatly.
Any hints on how to slot a sonnet card in slot 2? It would be great to be able to set up api labs for training.
