Business Codes on E1 Trunks for Alcatel 4400

Hello Everyone..

We have currently a Cisco Callmanager attached through a router using QSIG to the Alcatel.

The customer currently has the Alcatel configured that when dialing a long distance number the Alcatel asks first for the Business Code (is that the correct name?), then the user dials the long distance number, and if the Business Code has the correct privileages the call is completed and logged to the CDR.

Currently they had to dissable the Business Codes on the Alcatel for the Cisco Callmanager users (Because they need to go through the Alcatel to make a PSTN Call). They now have two cdr databases the Cisco Callmanager and the Alcatel which is really a headache for the admins..

We tried sending the Business codes attached at the beginning of the digits sent through the E1 to the Alacatel.

The Alcatel receives the digits but it takes the first ones (the ones we are pre-pending as the Business code) and it thinks that they are a number to route...so nothing happens. I believe this could be because the E1 thinks that the calls is from the PSTN and not an on-net call..

Has anyone being involved in a situation like this one?

in short, you are trying to send the business code TO the alcatel FROM the cisco ?

thats right...

through the QSIG E1...

but it doesnt sees the first digits as the codes, but as a number to route..

I dont know if its a configuration issue, or something to tell the E1 that the number its going to receive are not from the PSTN but from an On-net device..

seeing the Alcatel documentation, it is stated as Business Account code.

but it states that:

Network operation
This functionality is available on an ABC network, provided that system data (installation data and length of business account codes) are identical on all nodes. Project account codes are broadcast on the network and must therefore be the same on all nodes.

has anyone see that it worked through an external device (e.g. Callmanager)??

Nah, and I'm pretty sure you can't do it.

I would suggest you use DISA:

People would call from the cisco to the Alcatel.
Once on the alcatel, it will ask them for a code.
Then from here, they can dial out.

Hi. For use of business code you need to dial in Alcatel: business call prefix + business code + trunk group seizure prefix + number. If Cisco to Alcatel has private lines, try sending first the business call prefix, then the bussines code and so on.

Hey tincho.rn,
But if they are calling from a cisco to the alcatel, wouldn't this use a trunk already ? I thought you could use business code ONLY from a terminal directly on the PBX (or ABC network) ?

I understand that he wants to use the Alcatel PBX as a Tandem PBX or Indirect Operator (I donÂ´t know if this are the exact word, here we call "Transito"). I make a similar configuration using a OXE and a 4300 as Tandem PBX; they are connect throw a leased line using E1 PCM-R2, from the OXE we send trunk group seizure prefix + number and we use trunk groups of the 4300. I think this is a normal use: in OXE you have the Dialling Command Table to make use of this kind of configuration (as an example).

Ok, my bad. I forgot that business code is a trunk seizure. it should work then as long as the trunk as the COS so it can be reached from outside of the Alcatel..
