IpDesktopSoftphone without VPN

Hi ,
Has anyone ever tried to put the CS/GD (or CPU/INTIP) on a PUBLIC NETWORK in order to allow the IpDesktopSoftphone to connect without a VPN ?
If yes, did you have any security issue (beside the fact that by default it's clear RTP) ?
Thanks

Tryed only with OXO (one CPU with VoIP card) and IP phones. Works. No security issues apparently till now (3+ years).

I think first you need several IP Adresses for such an environment. At the second step I think you should use the security feature on OXE to forbid connection via https to unified maintenance, with telnet to 2555 CSTA, with telnet & ftp to the core environment, in case of denial of service attacks it is possible that the GD reboots. I think it is not really a good idea. Try some firewall technologies (Brick, SBC, Application Layer Gateway) or use another SIP based Firewall and a SIP client like SJphone instead of MyPhoneIPDesktop and NOE protocoll.

Hi
I am writing here because I have interest in this topic. This way I can receive e-mail with the updates.
I have two oxo on public network, they are working fine, but in my case it has two Linux servers for security. The technician set the public IP adresses through these servers.
I have ever done some test with a SIP phone with OXE. In the same LAN ok, with VPN too. I have tried with NAT but SIP phone doesn't register, OXE sends 407 proxy authentication required after receiving invite and SIP phone seems no understanding this message. I haven't found a way to set this proxy, but no results.
Has anybody ever done SIP phones and OXE thought NAT.
Thanks.

Hi,
I have also same problem. thru VPN SIP softphone is working fine, but IP desktop phone is not - i believe problem might with mac address registeration. in IP desktop along with client IP mac address also get registered due to this on VPN the traffic is coming from Untrusted - trusted interface and viceversa.
The main problem might be with the mac address -
