Wiped out AOS and need to know where to download the AOS for the switch

Post by charlie »

I started working here recently and had never worked on alcatel switches, the 6850 went down my first week and the company does not have a support program, so I am unable to have alcatel allow me to login to their system to download a new one for the switch.

I have looked around the forum and have found alot of useful info to format the flash,

In regard to uploading the images, if and when I ever get them ;-) I am confused in regard to how to upload, using zmodem, thats just a CLI to start the process of uploading a file?

how do i, from my laptop, connected to the consile actually get the files uploaded into the switch?

I have one orange light and no other lights on the switch. I really hope I can get this switch up.. any help is much appreciative

You need a laptop with a COM-port (COM-port to USB connectors work) + the special connector which is delivered with every single switch. The pin-out of that connector is also available in the documention which can be downloaded for free from the link in my signature. In addition you'll need a RJ-45 cable which connects the special connector on your COM-port with the switch console port.

From that point you need a terminal application which supports zModem like Teraterm, SecureCRT or whatever.

The missing thing is the AOS which will not be shared here by anybody. If you don't have a support contract with Alcatel-Lucent or a business partner, it might be necessary to get one.

After attempting to upload the AOS to the switch I got this error
Debug: CFISCS erase error block address 71280000
0xf5d57f8 (tDcacheUpd): disk cache error:device f5d5a30 block 249 errno c0006, disked removed while writing data, probable data loss

any suggestions on how to approach this problem. I formated the system already. Can't find much information on the error, any help would be much appreciative thanks guys.

That is really not a good error message.

Try to format the flash again, and upload the AOS to it via zModem.

You can format the flash from the "miniboot" with the following command
-> diskInit "/flash"

I get the same error after trying to format. would would be my next course of action? Is the internal HD or flash drive fried? Is there any way to recouperate it?

You'll have to contact the official Alcatel-Lucent support / or your partner in case that you are a customer and open a SR (Service Request).

Does anybody tell me whether AOS (Alcatel-Lucent Operating System) is Modular Operating System?
