Post by karthikpm2006 »

Hi ,

I want to configure alcaltel omniswitch 6850-24 .the configuration is similar to another existing alcatel switch. So I just want to copy and paste the configuration to this new switch. What is the command to do that?

Thanks

make sure that the new switch is empty - for it you can do the following:
> cd working
> delete boot.cfg
> copy working certified
> reload

Than you do a copy of the config from the existing switch in a text-file (via ctrl-c -> ctrl-v).
> write terminal" (or >show configuration snapshot)
Then you can copy the output in a txt-file
... do changes like ip-interface...,
than paste the new config from the txt-file to the new switch -> all commands will executed there
> write memory flash synchro

done

Hi Thanks a lot for the info. Now iam facing a peculiar issue.Iam unable to console in to this switch. When I console hyperterminal screen is showing as connected but nothing is seen from the hyperteminal screen just one cursor blinking and connected message at bottom of the screen .I tried teraterm ,putty all show the same.tried out different baud rates no difference.

Any solution for this?

IS there any way I can reset the switch to factory defaults at hardware level itself??I assume this can solve the problem?any other way??Please assist

have you tried in a different PC connecting the Console
what version ur running on the SW
try to upgrade the SW for the New version you can download from BPW
there is no hardware reset and only thing can done is detete the Boot.cfg file to factory default or upgrade the SW

when you reboot the switch, did you get correct output to you console (booting info etc )

you can stop the boot process and change baud rate if it is not correct.

send output of boot if possbile

Hi There

Two things

Try connecting from different PC to the switch
Try connecting with different console cable to switch
CONFIRM you are using the correct Alcatel console cable

Everyone inputs are correct with the exception of one thing I am not seeing mentioned - Changing the Port #. Some systems work best on Port #3 & 4 when using a terminal program with the baud rate set @9600. If you got it working already - Great.
