Reinstall PCS to a newer Version

HI everybody,

I have some clients with almost the same topology. One site with the CS/Appliance Server, and 10 to 20 remote sites.

Many of these clients have PCS in all the remote sites.

Recently, two of these clients requested an version upgrade, one from 8.0 to 8.0.1, and another one from 9.0 to 9.1.

We did the upgrade sucessfully in the main site.

The question is: Isn't there a way to remote update these PCS in remote sites? We have sites that are too far from any airport, almost 1000 km and I can't believe there isn't any solution to remote update these PCS.

I have a good VPN solution from my station that gives me network access for all sites.

I've tried to "Delivery installation" but it gives me the error:

The path of the delivery is /dhs3mgr/g150335
ERROR: this patch is not compatible with current binaries
static patch installation failed

Anyone knows how i can update these PCS?

One of the advantages of an IP system is the possibility to do a lot of things remotely....
No need to drive more than 1000 km.
You were on the right track.....
You'll need to use the pcinstaller, but I think you forgot one step.

It's not possible to upgrade directly to a patch version, like in your example patch 35.
First you have to upgrade the PCS to the main delivery e.g. /dhs3mgr/g1503.
When this is finished, you can upgrade to patch 35.

The update of a PCS is the same as for a 'normal' cpu.
So you can use the second partition of the PCS for upgrading to the new version.
First load a new linux to the second partition, then the full version, followed by the latest patch.

Good luck!

Thanks freedom!

I could install Linux+CallHandling+Static Patches in the inactive partition.

Only a, maybe silly, question: How do I activate this partition?

Will the PCS import all IP Configuration? Secured Hosts, etc?

Thanks

freedom,

Thanks again. I found where to switch to the inactive version.

Unfortunately, i think we have to restore the database and pcscopy again, but surely it's better than travel 1000km.

Thanks again.
