Hi All
Just recieved a new audiocodes mp118 box to replace a faulty one
the new box has ver 5.80A 023.006 the old box had ver 4
the old box you could choose if you wanted Sip or H323 by going into software update and selecting th sip or h323 .cmp file from the supplied cd
this new box is configured for sip and does not have a cd supplied
any documentation suggests that the H323 version is a different box not just a firmware change

my question is
Is the h323 version of the mp118 a different box or just a firmware change from sip to h323
or can i load the cmp file from the version 4 cd into the new version 5 box without killing it
has anybody done this
many thanks
jd

This is an Audiocodes question not an Alcatel related.

However: as I remember there are different firmwares for H.323 and SIP for MP11x range. You have to flash the one you need. You can find such firmware on the internet (or at your Audiocodes provider). There are not 2 different boxes.
Allong with the firmware I think you must upload a tone file for your region.

Many thanks for your reply
I thought i did post in the AudioCodes section
The media packs are being used to send analog extensions to 8 remote sites using H323 instead of Sip on a release 8 enterprise so it is alcatel related as they are a certified supplier

this is the fourth of these boxes that has given trouble in just over a year 2 of them just kept randomly loose their programming
and the power supply in 1 died the one that i flashed yesterday one of the fxo ports failed

the newer box version was 5.8 Sip and the older boxes on site were 4.6 or something like that
in the end i took a chance and flashed the new box with the older version H323.cmp file on the CD that came with the older boxes
and it worked straight away
