Hi! - I moved the server over the week end to handle the daily incoming connections (about 200K/day) but it looks like I aimed too low for the resources. I'm going to have to move this server (hopefully for the last time) this week. I'm sorry for the interruption.

Duplicate managed object instance in 4760 and mgr
Hello,
My name is Reinier Fosch and I have the pleasure to manage an OXE R9.0. Recently I've been encountering the following problem.
When I attempt to create a user, in the 4760 app, it takes longer than usual (about 25 to 30 seconds) before the process seems to stop with the error "Error {PCX} Create \xxx\users::25862 Operation Cancelled". After this the user does not seem to be created.
When this has happened I cannot use this number again. If I try, I get the error "Error {PCX} Create \xxx\users::25862 Duplicate Managed Object Instance". Also when I check in 'mgr' the number does not seem to be there. But when I try to create the number in 'mgr' I get the same error.
These problems seem to have started after a User export --> deletion --> and failed import action.
I would like to ask for your help and would appreciate any tips or instructions you can provide on how to fix this.
Kind regards,
Reinier Fosch

Re: Duplicate managed object instance in 4760 and mgr
hi
maybe the user you are trying to create is already exists in the system.did you search this number in the numbering plan if is there?if not try to give an other number.
In some earlier release there was a bug that when you create a user and the you delete it makes an error that is duplcate user. The solution was to reboot or make the user 255 255 255 and then modify it.
hope it helps

Hi Konstantinos.E,
Thanks for your prompt reply. The number is not in use anywhere on the system (phone book, groups, users and entities). Reboot is not a direct option rigth now. So I would like to try the creation of a user with 255 255 255 255.
However I would like to ask you a question about this, did you literally mean create a user with the telephone number 255 255 255 255? Or should it be the user name?
Thanks in advance for your help and clarification.

hi
go mgr->translator->numbering plan see there if the prefix you create is there.
if not try to create user like this:
shelve:255
board:255
eqipnu:255
user name doesnt matter.and then modify it the way you want.
let me know if it worked.
Regards

Kee another day_another try,
You where spot on with your first suggestion I found the number in mgr->translator->numbering plan. Only I have no way of removing the number there.
Recreation of the number is still an impossibility because of the "duplicate managed instance" error message.
I'm hoping/wishing we wont have to go for the reboot option you mentioned earlier.

Sometimes this problem can be solved after system restart. Looks like number deleted from HD database but present in working (RAM) database.
Sometimes in such case - when you try "consult/modify" in mgr - system say such object not exist. But when you choose "delete" - you see that object deleted.
About user with 255/255/255. This is user with all parameters (COS, Entity ..) but not linked with real equipment (board).
Useful f.e. in next case - you create users remotely and another person connect phones to the boards. You create users with 255/255/255. Person on site connect phone to free port, pick-up handset and dial user number (may be number+password - depends of system/other system/ system parameters/ Force Type Identification Is On item). After this - you can see in user parameters real equipment (shelf/ board/ eqt).

Thanks for your answers guys!
I will discuss with the local IT support to initiate the reboot. I will keep you posted on my progress.

Double bascul Reinier. (or better mastercopy on st-by, followed by a double bascul)
Also, did you begin your ABC-F project? Maybe a network number overlapping?
As I remember he has a duplicate CPU in Amsterdam.
(Greetings from Bogdan - Romania, Reinier!)

Hi tot3nkopf!!
Even the guru's are joining in. Nice:-D
Thanks for your input, however this is an OXE in our New Delhi office. No Duplicate CPU in this case.
In regards to the ABC-F project, slow but steady. with a slight detour. I don't want to risk going to far off topic so I'll maill you direct.

Re: Duplicate managed object instance in 4760 and mgr
I am not considering myself a guru. I have only 5 years of experience on OXE. Vad on the other hand is an experienced senior system engineer with many years of experience (and he is just one example). There are other more experienced engineers on this forum without "Alcatel Unleashed certified Guru" statement on their profile (the best example is Eliott). If you take a tour of this forum you will see that we are joining many posts.Reinier wrote: Even the guru's are joining in. Nice:-D
