6648 Bootrom failed

Hi All,

I just got a 6648 and in my infinite wisdom, I decided to update the bootrom.

However, the upgrade failed. The instructions were very vague as to what to do after this.

Being the genius that I am, I did a "reload". now I've got a dud omniswitch.

Any ideas on if/how I can recover it?

Thanks but that's referring to the Flash Card, not the Boot ROM. The 6648 has a 4MB AMD AM29LV040 flash chip.

The problem is it won't boot up at all due to the bad flash on my part.

I fixed it myself. I didn't have a "support contract", so I had no other choice but to go at it alone. No perks for being an ex A-L employee unfortunately :(

Anyway, the flash chip was partially erased due to my smart antics (therefore unable to boot).

I got another working 6648, booted in Miniboot, removed the working flash chip (whilst the switch was running) and replaced with the "bad" one, then did a sysUpdateBootrom several times until the chip was flashed.

It works just fine now. :)
