Questions about a GD3 board

I just recently built a remote shelf. The ones I built in the past were just plain old GD boards. I notice that on the GD3 board their is a LAN2 port. Can someone explain what the purpose this second port serves? Is it for redundacy? or is it for remote management purposes? or perhaps trunking?.

Hi Jbower,
As per Docs,
GD-3 Board
LAN: this port is used to connect to an Ethernet network. Use a straight RJ45 cable to connect to a LAN switch (or a hub).
LAN2: not used

Hi
mujib.alu can you tell which docs you mean .... i am searching in the technical Knowledge Base of Alcatel but cant find a TC.
in my last installation in R10.0 i connect the Lan1 to a Alcatel Switch and the Lan2 of the Gd to a other ALcatel Switch => Lan1 was always the active port if i disconnect the Lan1 the Lan Port2 will be atctivate (only a few pakets lost) , in a active connection i hear for few seconds nothing but then then conversation going on without disconnect or reboot of the GD, if i connect the Lan1 interface again a swicth back of the active Lan to LAN 1 happens ......
but now i build this in R10.1 and if the Lan 1 disconnect a switch on LAN 2 happens so far ok but i reconnect the LAN 1 the GD reboots.....
.....so have somebody a Solution or a TC for more Information ..........
