Split a single server onto GCE and MS SQL duel servers

Hi All

Many thanks in advance for any advice

We have a single hardware windows 2003 32 bit server running all of our GCE version 1.0 what I would like to do is split this onto
One VM Windows 2008r2 64 bit server with SQL 2012 and
One VM Windows 2008r2 32 bit GCE server and point the GCE server at the SQL server for it's databases

The moving of the databases if fine I know how to do that my question is around how difficult is it to change the configuration on the GCE server to use the new database server?

I think someone had told me that GCE V 1.0 can't run on a 64 bit server is that correct?

Yes you can split the solution. However, for support from Alcatel, you must install across Alcatel approved OS platforms. So for GCE 1.0

GCE - Win 2008 SE 64bit (not R2)
SQL - same as above.

There is a tech doc that explains the procedure but only available to certified Business Partner. So if you are end user, then you will need support from your vendor. Also, do not move your SQL to a named instance.
