OTMS install - error in the biginning of Installer
Hello everybody,
I retrieve some licences for OTMS which doesn't need dongle and I have tried to setup that OTMS in my lab with a virtual machine (Esx) and just after select my keyboard type, I have an error message box (In attachment) and I don't understand why.
I have also tried with a physical machine and I have the same error. At first, I have thought my RHEL 5.8 version was corrupted, so I have downloaded a new one but always the same thing.
I have upload a print sreen of the error message in attachment, I hope someone will be able to help me.
Thanks in advance

Re: OTMS install - error in the biginning of Installer
Why aren't you using OTMS boot cd provided by Alcatel-Lucent?
It has some pre-install scripts to configure the operating system, and i think it is using RHEL 5.6.

Re: OTMS install - error in the biginning of Installer
Other issue was detected about kickstart error on a physical cisco appliance
The Linux try to installbut does not have the necessary driver to continue
It was related to hard drive raid controller not compliant with the basic distribution of red hat 5.8
Check also the network setup of your virtual machine
You may have a disable network interface
A potential workaround could be to install from local
Mount in VMware a dvd disk ressource for your otmsv virtual machine, and install from dvd
Are you using Aleds?
In addition
Although virtualization sound hardware agnostic, it is not
The right message is if VMware esxi install properly then you can install otmsv
What is is your hArdware, some like up g8 require to get the specific VMware esxi
Go to hp website to find the link in VMware site about right VMware binaries
Second
Make sure you have md5 checksum checked of the boot dvd
Since other succeed to install otmsv on top of VMware esxi with ot 1.2.54, I don't think issue is in ot software.
Read again the deployment step of virtual machine (ot 1.2doc)
Finally, you need a dongle, and the dongle USB port must be associated to the vm where flex is running (internal to ot is preferred or on a dedicated vm for flex)
Without dongle, ot will look at its hostid (vm Mac and will not work if no license matching this hostid)
Hope this help
Look at other forum about kickstart
Try also to train yourself in vm deployment by creating a vim and install a Linux distribution of. Red hat 5.8 (not alu), if it fails, it is your setup or hardware that is not good.

Re: OTMS install - error in the biginning of Installer
Hello,
in fact, if you use the RHEL provided by ALU, it seems you must use right servers which are specified in ALU TC.
I have made another test with an IBM x3250 and it works correctly. If someone has some tricks to setup RHEL 5.8 provided by ALU in VMware or another appliance, I'm ok
Regards

There are no real tricks i have installed 2 OTMS systems on VMWare with no issues at all, make sure you have the Virtual Machine setup correctly as per documentation and away you go.

Re: OTMS install - error in the biginning of Installer
BootCD is a different CD, do not confuse with the media one, this one (BootCD) is used to install the RedHat, after this you use the OTMS software.

Why using the IP address? Also never use a saved URLs. Try the FQDN and type it manually.
