Is it possible on alcatel devices to add an description per port. For example for port 1/1, add description like Server_XXX.

This is possible via the following command

interfaces 1/1 alias "Server_123"

I have spent a lot of time looking for description rename in the pdf manual....but nothing!
Alias is the key!!!!
