Dears..

one of my production switch shows following file in flash.. which includes dump file too. (6317134 Feb 23 2012 slot_01_00.pmd)..

i have following concerns on this , as i am new to this alcatel switch.

1: if deleting it from production, will it effects production. .??
2: Why this file is created.. how can we avoided it..
3: could you please give em some idea about dump file and crash file in alcatel swithches , like y this is creating in directory. (reasons?) ..

Listing Directory /flash:

drw 512 Apr 17 2011 certified/
-rw 317 May 8 11:57 boot.params
drw 512 Apr 17 2011 working/
-rw 11 Jul 24 2006 boot.slot.cfg
-rw 64000 Oct 8 2012 swlog1.log
-rw 64000 May 8 11:58 swlog2.log
-rw 111472 Sep 13 2009 MemMon000.dmp
drw 512 Nov 15 2006 network/

drw 512 Jun 19 2012 switch/

As the dump file is several month (if swlog shows your current date) or years (if it was really 2012) old i think it's safe to delete that.
dump and pmd (post mortem diagnosis) files are created when a switch crashes (e.g. software bug) and are helpful for the TAC to see where the error occured.

So without a crash no dump files should be created and it's safe to delete them in production.
So
1: no problem
2: see above
3: see above
