Hello,
Is there any capability on Omniswitch 6850 switches similar to that of 7750 hardware support of alarm contact inputs that allow an operator to monitor and report changes in the external environmental conditions in a remote or outdoor deployment?
Thanks,
Onur SARI

I don't know a 7750, what exactly do you mean? you have the health probe that monitors temperature and you can set limits when to send a trap or query by snmp. Don't know of other environment conditions, that can be monitored (but I'm willing to learn)

On some other systems -like Alcatel-Lucent 7750 SR router systems- there is alarm contact input (a kind of input port) and capability to monitor the environmental conditions in the room - cabinet etc. by connecting an external device that is the source of the environmental information - lets call it an alarm unit. This is different than health monitoring in the Omni Switch which monitors only the switch internal board temp. etc.
I wanted to know if it is possible with Omni Switch as well ?

I do not belive you can put external sensors on the OS. The IPD Gear, you can. The Enterprise equipment (OS, etc) no.
