Hi Guys,

I knew that there several topics regarding the installation of OXE into the virtual box.
However, I still wasn't able to complete the installation once I checked all of topics regarding it.

I'm using newer version of virtual box 4.2.16 which is running on windows 7 pro 64 bit.
And I used PC installer 3.4 to install Linux and the call handling software to the virtual machine on it.

Configuration of virtual machine for oxe is following;
OS:Other Linux
Main memory:256MB
Storage:8GB
Network adapter:Virtual box host only ethernet adapter.

And configuration of PC installer is following;
Call Server type:Appliance server and tried blade server as well.
Call handling version:I tried to install R10.0/R10.1/R10.1.1.
Installation type:Standard
Network type:Direct cable
Network interface:I selected Virtual box host only ethernet adapter.

I tried to install R10.0 and R10.1, 10.1.1 but all were failed.
It seems that the virtual machine could get IP from host PC which PC installer installed but it couldn't download files.
On PC installer, I could see mac address of virtual machine and provided ip for virtual machine as well.
However, I couldn't ping to the ip which for virtual machine from host PC.
And, It was stuck after it shows "Loading x.x.x.x:/bootp/linux/76.0/pxe/pxeloader.....".
*See attached file.

Please advise.

Regards,

Strange
Got some releases (R7-R10) running on VBox without any problem.
Started using it from VBox version 2.2

Should be at least 10 GB for R10 (read TC0418).

Just tried with "Blade server" on Windows 7 Pro (32-bit), PC installer 3.4, Vbox 4.2.16, OXE SW j2.603.13.f.
Installation ran without any problem with the VM settings you mentioned (except for HD size).

Some point to observe
  • Disable firewall or create firewall rules to allow traffic flow for VBox installation.
  • Check the settings of VirtualBox Host-Only network adapter in network settings
  • Check PC installer logs

Hi Alex,

Thank you for your prompt reply and sound advise.

I completed the installation of OXE to virtual box after changing HD size and changed the network mode to "bridged mode".
What I've changed is in below.

1.Changed network mode to "bridged mode" and select physical NIC on host PC.
2.Configured ip address to physical NIC on host PC and make it link-up by connecting to the network switch.
3.Changed HD size of the virtual machine to 10GB.
4.Selected "Blade server" on PC installer. *I did try it with "Appliance server" but couldn't complete the installation.

If there is any specific setting to complete the installation by selecting "VirtualBox Host-Only network adapter", please provide me your configuration.

Best Regards,

You need "bridged mode" if you want your Virtual OXE to access/to be accessed from another equipment on a LAN, e.g. to connect to the GD.

No specific settings. With this mode your OXE will be accessible only from the host OS and other VMs on this host configured with "VirtualBox Host-Only network adapter".
