Good morning Gentlemen,
i am new member to Alcatel 6850-24L Omniswitches family and i faced really difficulty in solving the following problems:

1-I tried to connect to Alcatel Switch through internet explorer using IP address but unfortunately it doesn’t connect me to the switch. Then I tried to use console port but I did not work at all. We fabricate RJ-45 to serial connection using the below pinout setup

But did not work.
Can anyone help to have the proper pinout?..

2-The second inquiry, we have one of the switches I could open the web view page but I could not log in to it using the default user name and password. I have tried using
Username: admin
Password: switch
Username: default
Password: guest
Unfortunately, none of them worked.
Can anyone help me in how to retrieve the account information?

3-Third one is we have created backup file for boot.cfg to copy the current configuration of the switch but I don’t know how to copy to my external hard drive or flash. Would anyone please help me out.

thank you in advance..
AAR

Hi AAR,

1) You can see connector pinout in file connector_pinout.png

2) The default are:
User: admin
Password: switch

3) Read the file Switch Management Guide

On this site http://enterprise.alcatel-lucent.com/?p ... =documents you can download manuals.

1: try to get hold of the Alcatel Adapter and use a normal ethernet to connect from the adapter to the switch.

2: if you don't have the login user/password you can't retrieve them, when having console access you can powercylce the device and remove all Users from the switch, leaving the default configs, but remove all existing (e.g. snmp) users.

3: you need a login (preferable ssh/telnet/ftp or webview), you can than display the configuration:
"show configuration snapshot all"
and store that.

or copy /flash/working/boot.cfg via ftp

When using a recent Miniboot you can - when on console/cli - enable the usb with "Usb enable".
If your stick mounts (probably no external harddisk try a small (<2GB) FAT formatted usb stick)

cp /flash/working/boot.cfg /uflash
