Re: two VMware oxe on same PC cant work
what do you mean only one can work?
How are you connecting to them?
What error do you get?

for example, cavagnaro wrote:what do you mean only one can work?

two OXE VMware
A: ip addr: 192.168.0.1,in VM setting,network,choose "Bridged"
B: ip addr: 192.168.1.1,in VM setting,network,choose "Bridged"
and real PC have a real network card, its ip addr: 192.168.0.100,192.168.0.200 (windows 2003)
the two ip addr bind to the only one real network card
if A and B trun on,they both come to MAIN role
but, can only one PC can ping OK
sometimes A boot first, then ,can ping A,192.168.0.1,OK,but ping B is NOK
sometimes B power on first, then, can ping B,192.168.1.1,OK,but ping A is NOK
sorry, can you understand me,with my poor english,

Re: two VMware oxe on same PC cant work
eh... ok, how do you expect to reach network 192.168.1.0 if your network is 192.168.0.0??? your mask being of 24 bit (255.255.255.0) restricts you to reach that, so you should add that network to your interface....
So again the problem is not the OXE not the PC, is the thing between the chair and the keyborad...

Re: two VMware oxe on same PC cant work
i think the problem is because the MAC
i install OXE Vmware R 7.1
follow frank's step
change MAC to "00:0c:29:d8:ff:d4 " when system startup
edit the file(with vi): /etc/rc.d/init.d/network
and add this line
action "Setting hw-mac-address: " ifconfig eth0 hw ether 00:0c:29:d8:ff:d4
is it right?

Re: two VMware oxe on same PC cant work
Well actually the problem still is between the chair and the keyboard
As you may know you ip address has an association to a Mac address > arp -a
What happens if two Ip address on same interface has same mac address? well one of the two stop working.
So you must create a new interface on VMWare to achieve this and configure it as Bridged too.
Please read VMWare documentation if you are planning to ask the how-to of this.

Re: two VMware oxe on same PC cant work
I have mine working fine with 2 cpus on the same machine as cav mentioned unless you have a router configured it will not work.
i had issues changing /etc/rc.d/init.d/network as it didnt always work so i made my changes in etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifeth-0 and added a line HWADD=XXXXXXXXXXXX

Re: two VMware oxe on same PC cant work
I tried changing /etc/rc.d/init.d/network and it wasnt recognised and the system still had the VMare virtual MAC (it also doesnt work with OTUC) so i made my changes in etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifeth-0 and added a line HWADDR=XXXXXXXXXXXX and it works fine
