SAS-M flash format

Hello,

Does anyone know if there is a way of formatting the 7210 SAS cf1 flash?

If you go to the file prompt, there seems to be that option for doing so, but no matter how you write the command it does not work

Code: Select all

*A:NS>file cf1:\ # format cf1:
MINOR: CLI Formatting drive cf1: is not allowed.
*A:NS>file cf1:\ # format cf1: reliable
MINOR: CLI Formatting drive cf1: is not allowed.
Why am I looking to format the flash? Because after a power outage the folder where the TiMOS file was located is no longer accesible, or to be more precise, it exists but appears to be empty and cannot be deleted.

Probably sooner of later the flash on the device will completely fail, but maybe a format can make it last longer.

Also, is there any way to replace the builtin flash?

Thanks for the help.

did you try to shut down the flash before formating?

I am afraid that command is not available on 7210 SAS-M boxes (at least in the version we are running 4.R8, yes I know it is a bit old).

I have sucessfully formated a cf flash on several 7750 boxes, but I do not know how to do it on 7210 boxes.

thanks
