MWI to SIP Phone

Hi all,
I have SIP phones (generic) configured as SIP extension as room extensions. The Voice Mail is correctly activated for the guest and you can leave messages correctly, however the messagge waiting indication light (MWI) is not being activated. I could not see traffic related to message waiting signalization over SIP.
Has someone configured something similar or face a similar problem?
