Promiscuous Mode

Hello,
I'm a newbie in configuring Alcatel switches. While 'surfing' through a preconfigured switch per web-interface I struggled over the extended interface view. At all ports the promicuous mode is activated (Promiscuous Mode=TRUE)!?!?!? (see attachment). I didn't find answers in the documentation.
Can anyone explain?
