Alcatel Lucent 4038 IP Touch and Switch

I'd like to connect an Alcatel Lucent 4038 IP Touch using a Switch to a LAN Port. When I connect the telefon directly to the port the telefon starts up, if i use the switch it does not start up; do i have to specify s.th so that i can use the switch? Or ist it not possible to interconnect a switch?

It is neede, becaus I like to use to phones on the same LAN-Port b/c all others are already occupied.

If i connect the telephone directly to the port it works, i tried also two different switches, with the switches a computer can used, it's only the telephone which is making trouble

I also tried different telephones; to me it seems either impossbile by how the hardwre has been constructed or I forgot sth

Are you using a dedicated VLAN fo voice? Is the VLAN configured on all switch ports?

Are you doing a cascade without a power supply? Is that it? main switch is PoE enabled and the second one isn't? Am I understanding that right? "Understanding" as you don't mention anything clearly actually...guessing is the word.
If your new switch doesn't provide energy via Ethernet it won't boot

In the end it was truly a power problem. The switched i used should support 802.3at, but i didn't. Using a different power device and the problem was solved.
