Hi All,
I have a node (7210) which I need to default and put a new configs on.
Since I do not know the password, I had to bread the booting sequence (hit my space bar before point to the bof).

Unfortunately, the node never revert to the factory default which I wanted but endlessly resolving with some outputs below.

I have truncated the outputs but apologies if this is still too much for some.
Now I cannot even get to the BOF where I wanted to point to a phantom configs, save and reload for the node to default to factory settings.
Any help here shall be greatly appreciated!!!!

Hi.
Try with 'password' as the password.
You should be able to get to it if you hit a key within 3 seconds or so to change boot parameters.

If not, set up dhcp server with tftp options and connect this to eth/mgmt port.

Many thanks for your reply, but i am thrown more into confusion.
How can i put password when the node endlessly keep saying "DHCP failed on Port x/x/x/x?"

Even i can break the boot sequence, why would the password of "password" be accepted when i am not yet in factory default of the node?.

Is like the config.cfg cannot be located if i m right?.

Please more explanation guidance is still needed ...

You should be able to enter the boot sequence menu by interacting while 'Hit a key within 1 second to change boot parameters...'

Doesn't it accept anything at that stage?

If you are trying to default the configuration, you should be able to put the "wrong" BOF password in three times and you should be given the option to factory default the switch.

From the section "Reset the node to factory default setting" in the 7210 Basic System Configuration Guide:

"From release 4.0 and onwards, the default BOF password can be modified by the user. To edit the BOF parameters, user needs to provide the correct password. If the user forgets the password and fails to provide a correct password after three attempts, the system prompts the user to reset the BOF password to factory default. As a security measure, to prevent a malicious user from using it to gain access to the configuration files, when the password is reset to default, the system also resets the flash to factory defaults (that is, it removes all the files from the flash except for the boot image file (cf1:\boot.tim) and Timos image file (cf1:\both.tim)) and reboots the node with the factory default settings. The node is rebooted after the password is reset, to boot up with the factory default settings. "

I just want to appreciate you all for your willingness to assist others.
The task has not been undertaken but at least the issue becomes understandable with mivens explanation.
I think Stoffen's explanation is too hard for me to understand.
