6900-Core switch to Edge switch
Posted: 10 Feb 2017 08:54
by HUSSAINQCS
Scenario:
I have 1 core switch 6900-x20 and have 6450 5Nos switches stacked each other
there is one up link going to edge switch of 1 in a stack
i can able to ping my core switch from stack 1 but i was not able to reach the core switch from remaining stacks??
What could be the issue?

No need to flood the Forum with lots of the same posts.
Do you stack or daisy chain (you use stacking module?)
If you can reach the core from a PC connected to Port 1/X you will be able to reach the core from a PC connected to a port in 3/X if you have the same same VLAN on 3/X an 1/X
i was not able to understand your strange posts in the 6900 board, but i guess you lack some knowledge about routing and vlans

See Mr.Devnull,
This is my first Hotel data project i know about voice but i dont have exp in data see what customer needs
Just need to have different vlans for all the switches because they need one vlan for Access points
one for IPTV and multiple vlans for Data switch(Floor wise ) and there will be only one uplink from core switch for all (Data,AP& IPTV)
Just to ensure that by connecting my laptop in each switch and just try to ping the core switch and if it is ok then we can conclude ok the configuration is correct
Thats why i testing from each switch i can able to reach core switch or we have to test only in 1 switch of the stack is that necessary ???
Please i think you got understand

Yes i using stacking
stack a -switch1 to stack b switch 2 -----Access points-------UP LINK FROM CORE SWITCH connected here only
stack b -switch 2 to stack b switch 3 -----DATA
stack a -switch 3 to stack b switch 4------IPTV
stack a -switch 4 to stack b switch 5-------Access points
stack a -switch 5 to stack b switch 1--------DATA & IPTV
Now i can able to reach core switch from my PC by connecting to the edge switch 1 and not able to reach core switch by connecting to other edge switches(2,3,4,5).

Give me the reason
I wonder that you reach anything when connection to "Edge-1" You are on Slot 1 in VLAN 112 and you do not have a gateway for VL 112. Only thing i can imagine is that you connected VL90 to Vl122 and connected a PC with an IP 10.200.200.x/21
-> This is not a good solution
I would guess you do not need a distinct VLAN for each accesspoint, but if you stress that you need to have a gateway/Firewall/.. Interface for each of that vlans to have a connectivity to outside world. this can be the X20 or the wlan controller.
I guess you should get some data expert to figure out, what you really need - the forum seems not be appropriate for that.
