The IOM3-XP-C has a T3 rather than T2 fabric interconnect. This means it supports the faster fabric speeds used by FP3-based cards.
There are limitations on systems that have a mixture of T2 and T3-based cards.
For example, for an SR-12 with a SFM-5 fabric you get 100Gbit/s per slot resilient with a mixture of T2 and T3 cards but 200Gbits/slot if all are T3-based. To use an FP4-based card, you cannot have T2 cards present.
Using an IOM3-XP-C means you don't get those limitations.
