Vmware ESX & Omnivista

Just some info :

Just installed R4.2 Omnivista in a VMware ESX session (5200 users).
It's running smoothly as if it is was installed on a standalone PC. :D
Everything is working fine.
Minor detail : for the session to work properly you have to assign 2 CPU's
to it (beside the prereqs from Omnivista)

That's good to know, I have never installed it in a virtual and had a customer asked me that very question the other day.

I assume it will run on standard as well.

Thanks.

we did a similar thing some time ago... works fine so long.
But be warned, there is no support by Alcatel, when they find out...

Are the Omnivista alarms working on your VmWare appliance?

Yes, they are !
Checked today reporting, accounting, maintenance, sheduler and it is still ok ! :)

Beside the 2 cpu I mentioned before, it is best to use the Omnivista client from a remote
pc and not on the server itself. If using on the server, the client is very slow. I noticed
the client using up all available memory during that session. So stick to what ALU says :
don't use the client from the server.

Note: This is Vmware ESX (not GSX), just to be clear
