Dears,

I want to reset AdminNmc password, i haven't directory manager password also.
I follow this topic and change password of directory manager
1) Change directory: 8770\SunONE\slapd-8770\config

2) Edit: 'dse.ldif'

3) Modify line: nsslapd-rootpw: {SSHA}5lh……
New entry: nsslapd-rootpw: {CLEAR}hugo
(CLEAR means you can fill in the password in a readable format – like 'hugo')
DON'T SAVE THE MODIFICATON YET!

4) Stop service: 'Sun Directory Server 7.0 Control Center'
Stop service: 'Sun Directory Server Enterprise Edition 7.0'

5) SAVE the modification of 'dse.ldif'

6) Start service: 'Sun Directory Server 7.0 Control Center'
Start service: 'Sun Directory Server Enterprise Edition 7.0'
(The 'Sun Directory Server Enterprise Edition 7.0' should start automatically, if not start it)

7) Use the ToolsOmnivista.exe to change the password of the 'Directory Manager'; otherwise the password isn't encrypted in the 'dse.ldif' file.
After that i was try to open ToolsOmniVista.exe with directory manager password but i am getting this error message.
C:\8770\bin>ToolsOmniVista

Accounting organization Update :....

Or

Password Update :....

Please enter password of cn=directory manager : ****

ServiceManagerInterface::init(): Accessing service control manager failed: [5] A
ccess is denied.

C:\8770\bin>
Please support me guys.
Thanks in advance

Hello,

Could you please help me, I am following the steps to change the Directory Manager password but when I enter ToolsOmnivista.exe and try the new password it does not accept it, I return to the "dse.ldif" file and I see that it is not encrypted yet .

I restart the server and look at the file again and see that the password is already encrypted but when I enter ToolsOmnivista.exe it still does not accept the password.

Omnivista version 8770-32.2.08.10b

attached capture, thanks.

Its not Omnivista specific, and its the same for 4760 and 8770, just LDAP servers are different versions.
https://directory.fedoraproject.org/doc ... sword.html or https://community.oracle.com/tech/apps- ... admin-user
But some procedure should be followed
  • Create hash for a new password, e.g.

    Code: Select all

    C:\4760\SunONE\bin>pwdhash.exe -D C:/4760/SunONE/slapd-4760/ -s SSHA NewPass
    {SSHA}aFelQBmLVvHD8IjBwj+4/ps3FdXIP8pLT388YA==
  • Stop SUN Directory Server Enterprise edition server
  • Change dse.ldif file hash for nsslapd-rootpw to {SSHA}aFelQBmLVvHD8IjBwj+4/ps3FdXIP8pLT388YA==
  • Start SUN Directory Server Enterprise edition server
  • Wait for the service' start, after that you should (using new password) change all passwords again with ToolsOmniVista.exe for OmniVista to put all hashes in right places

Thanks Alex.
I actually thought my issue was password, but just realized that my Sun Directory service and all other services are not running.
Need to figure this out now.
