Hi Trained People,

I am currently expecting an upgrade to Ver 8 from Ver 6.1.1 in February. Woo Hooo, do any of you guys know of any issues with Ver 8 I need to be aware of. Having spent the last 18 months getting our system running as expected after having at least 26 custom patches written and rewritten by alcatel. to solve various bugs. are there any I need to be aware of especially affecting the CCS system.

Thanks

Samontrog :?

6.1.1 was full of errors. It was quickly superseded by 6.1.2 and then 6.2. If you lived with 6.1.1 for 18 months then you should have shot your vendor! 6.2 was given away as a maintenance release!

If you've had so many problems with a previous release and you've managed to get alcatel to specifically write, and re-write, patches for you, then why not ask them directly?

Clearly they will have better knowledge of your system than any of us.

Otherwise the answer is no - there are no bugs in Rel 8.

This reminds me of Bill Gates demonstrating the very first version of Windows. It was rubbish and now everyone is using it!

We found some bugs in g13025c:
-4645 won´t say the password.
-4645 won´t tell you the number of messages you have in your box.
-Dynamic state user: change of associated set not possible, system tells you you´re modifying a secondary tandem set...argh... change via prefix or directly under users is OK.

Some more?

Does it make any sense? 7.1 was a pile of shit until patch 19 ...
Tried 8.0 with 4645? Does it tell the password after modification?

Hi! The only time I had problems with "telling password" after modification was when accidentally I have deleted the evavgA.GEA . Then I followed the TC related to the problem: renaming evavg.EN0 into evavgA.GEA . It was ok except "telling number".
Try to replace the evavgA.GEA with one taken from a system that works OK.

Regards.

I'm out of ideas for you for the moment. If I have the time I'll try to test this in my lab.

Regards.

OK, maybe I´m too dumb for this ;-) When only GEA and the desired message is in usr7/evavg this happens. I added all translations it works fine. Maybe I was half asleep when I empties this folder accidently.........................NO bug this time.

I found a bug in a R8.0 install I did last week. I have 2 virtual UA's that I route calls to. The 4059 attendant has no problem calling these virtual UA extensions, but any other phone (they are all digital, mostly 4029 and 4019) can't dial the virtual UA extensions, they get "network congestion".

Changed them to analog ghost Z's for the time being, and it works.
