Message distortion on 4645 VM

Hi,

Has anybody out there experianced problems with distorted messages on 4645 voicemail. I have had two sites now where messages being left by callers are heavily distorted (they sound like they have been really heavily compressed).

No apparent issues with the system, no related error message (incvisu).

Both systems had been installed and working with no problems for some months.

On testing, problem also affected greeting messages. (voicemail prompts not affected).
Both systems are embeded VM (CS+4645). One system R6.1.1 other R7.0.

In both cases, reset of the virtual GD (18-0), has cured the problem (so far!!).

Any thoughts??

Thanks

Fitz :)

I have never had distorted messages on 4645. In a 6.0 release there was a problem with distortion using IMAP.

It's interesting you are having the same problem on 2 different switches both running different codes.

Are these systems networked?

Hi,

Thanks for ready my post.

One system is networked (but not to the site with the similar problem - different customers). One site is stand alone.

Currently battling with an eService request. Will post results if I get anything useful!!

I have the same issue with two sites, again one networked and one stand alone, problem with tss still no resolution as the site we are monitoring has decided to behave, one site is 7.0 and the other is 7.1

On mine I have to bounce the system to recover, also I have found that when the system has the issue any 4645AA voice prompt stop playing (AA still works but no guidance)

Hi - I'm having the same issue - i though it may be down to faulty DSP's but a reboot of 4645 fixes.

I have just had the same issue this morning and a rstcpl 18 0 has resulted in the voicemail being reset without success following incidents.

There must be an issue with CS+4645 both my systems are 7.1

Am raising an esr.

Will keep in touch

Chris

This issue seems to be due to a run away process (umount) which consumes all of the available processor capacity. Allegedly running the olcrep script will cure it. I have had sucess with killing the ps, but this is hit and miss

Run 'top' on affected system to see if the process is there

All systems running in alaw OR µlaw or is it mixed?

Calls to A4645 are always in G711.

I had the same issue on release 7.0
Alcatel asked us to upgrade to 7.1 , but the customer does not want the common hardware anymore, so we're upgrading to crystal...

PS: I'm moving this post under the correct label

We have had this problem on about 6 different sites now - R7.1-f5.401.17.d, f5.401.21.f, f5.401.23 etc
Both on A-Law and Mu-Law systems
Both Stand alone Eva and hosted on CPU A/B eva
Seems to be nothing in common with these sites.
Running olcrep/infocollect somehow resolves the issue (or reboot or kill umount process if possible as mentioned)

We have many eSR's open and still no fix.

If you have issues please log as eSR so we get more attention on this issue.

We have many eSR open too.
I sent an email to someone at Alcatel-Lucent.
I'll give an update here as soon as I get an answer.
