Hi all,
we were trying to change the password for the "admin" account and we used a string like this:"k6RKy-FUT\nc_fR:#0L+" only after changing we found in documentation that special characters are interpreted as linux variables.

Now it is no more possible to login into the switch using that user.

However we have remote access to the switch using other rw accounts and credentials.

Is there any way to restore or change again the password for "admin" account without having to enter miniboot?

In my knowledge only the admin is able to change its password. You can try as an other user "user admin password ......" - but I think it will fail.
For both the other ways you need a reboot.
1. reboot the switch and interrupt the boot with any key 2. go to the directory system and rename the usertable7 (or maybe usertable8) to an other name (with mv)
than reboot the switch. Now you are able to login as admin with the default password. Than rename the usertable back to the origin and use the command above to change your own password.

I was working on a 6900 device and renaming the userTable8 file worked well! After reboot I was able to log into the switch using default credentials.
