How to connect to a remote OXO's trunks from main OXO?

Hello Everybody,

I'm still new in learning how to configure an OXO (release 6 version). I was hoping somebody can help me with my problem.

I'd like to know how I can use a remote OXO's trunks just by dialing from our main OXO connected via IP (such as VPN).

We have 2 small OXOs, one for our remote branch and one for our main office. Each has mixed boards (4 analog trunks, 8 analog phone sets, and 4 UA digital ports) installed. The main office OXO has 3 analog trunks connected to it while the remote OXO has one analog trunk.

We alaready have a working VPN link on both sites. Thanks to a Technical Communication Document (TC0584) I got from this site, I've managed to link the two OXOs together using an IP channel link. I can dial to a remote station from our main office using ARS.

The link for that document is here if anybody want to read it: viewtopic.php?f=66&t=1892

Here's the current setup.

Main OXO users are from 100-111 (base 100-111).
Remote OXO users are from 200-211 (base 200-211).

Following the documentation, I assigned in both sides the "Main Trunk Group" as ARS with digit 9. With 2 IP channels assigned for each site, I assigned those as VOIP trunks.

In main OXO, I set an ARS prefix of 2 substituted by 2 to dial to remote OXO's IP. In remote OXO, I added an ARS prefix of 1 and substituted by 1 to dial to main OXO's IP.

In main OXO's private dialing plans, I added users 100-111. In remote OXO's private dialing plan also, I added users 200-211.

With the setup above, for example, from a main OXO phone I'll just dial 9 and then 200 to call the remote OXO phone assigned as 200.

Now, I was hoping I could also directly use that one trunk in the remote OXO from the main OXO. In the remote OXO, I set up a secondary trunk group numbered 500 with one assigned analog trunk. From a remote OXO phone, if I dial 500, I can pickup a dial tone from that trunk.

I tried adding the secondary trunk group 500 as ARS in the remote OXO's private dialing plans. In the main OXO, I also added another ARS entry with prefix 5 substituted by 5 to also link through the IP trunk. So, from the main OXO, if I dial 9 then 500, I could not get the dial tone from the remote OXO trunk. Instead I only hear a ringing tone, which no one answers or doesn't seem to end. I can't dial out though.

Any idea where I could have gone wrong? Many thanks in advance.

Example for brake-in/ brake-out configuration:

Brake-out
Let's assume you have TG *500 linking the 2 sites (OXO's 1 and 2). OXO 2 has external lines. In OXO 2 prefix for dialing outside is 0 (there is also a possibility to have a closed dialing plan and to dial directly outside). If you want to dial from OXO 1 through the lines of OXO 2 you must dial TG seizure *500+0+ext number; or use ARS first digit of ext number (2 for ex) treated as ARS (in numbering plan, secondary TG start 1 end 1 base ARS keep), in ARS table 1 is replaced by 01 and goes through *500); or define a seizure for transit (9 let's say: in numbering plan start 9 end 9 base ARS drop private - keep 0 as public for going through local lines of OXO 1, and in ARS define whatever local numbering you might have x replaced by 0x going through *500 and treated as private).
Tick joining between ISDN and ISDN, ISDN and analog etc in OXO 2 and make sure that users in OXO 1 have the right to use *500. Also in public numbering of OXO 2 make sure you have 0 translated to 0.
another method would be to use speed dialing.
Brake-in (from OXO 2 to OXO 1)
Assuming DID 1 as 303030. We wand this DID to land on user 100 from OXO 1. 303030 hits OXO 2. We must define 303030 in public numbering translated to *500 (assuming same TG seizure in OXO 2 for the linking TG) + 100 or directly to 100 in your configuration with remote users already defined. Also check joining between ext TG and private TG.

Regards.

Did you at least read the related posts and the OXO documentation for SIP trunking?
