Maximum number of incoming digits aloud?

Quick question,

whats the maximum number of allowed incoming digits on OXE (We are on V8.0).

For our channelisd/ varying timeslot setup our service provider has stated that they need to present 11 digits on our Q931 circuits.

Our PCX vendor pre-sales accounts guy reckons that it will only accept 9 maximum???. As I am only used to using 6 digits I am left wondering.
I believe it will probably do 11 but I could do with some confirmation.

As a test I decided to try and create a dummy DDI of 11 digits in Default DID translator to see if the system would return an error. It accepted the 11 digits.
As our circuits arnt active yet I have no way to test if this works!.

Can anyone clarify this?

Many Thanks in Advance

it should allow you to enter up to 30 digits and the q931 spec specifies 2-23
shouldnt be an issue anyways as set the number of digits unused in the trunk to a lower number then just DID translate that number

I confirm that 11 will work.
To tell you the truth, I never had to get more than 11 so I cannot say for 30...

It will work fine with 11 digits.
You don't need to use all of these digits in the DID translator.
In the trunk you can configure the number of digits to delete.
If you receive 11 digits and delete e.g. 6, you can use a DID translator with 5-digit numbers.

Guvnor, apologies for replying slightly late in the day - but if you are suggesting that your vendor insists that they can only send 11 digits on their Q931 service then I would advise that you test the circuit as hard as possible.

Q931 is a standard (as previously intimated by an earlier post) and as such it should be capable of digit management between 2-23 digits. If your vendor cannot deal with this then I suspect they are offering you an EMULATION service rather than the real deal. Hence, you may find other interoperability issues.

Keep testing/hammering that provision till you are satisfied that it does what is says on the tin!

On the plus side, as you have now discovered, the OXE is a very forgiving mistress and she will deal with any number of digits you may wish to push in to her / scuse the pun

Just to complete the thread: In older releases the maximum was 20.

If we say about incoming digits - we must divide two case:
1) Incoming calls with or without DID transcoding;
2) Transit calls without DID translation - in this case we have no limitation for incoming digits.
