Lola 400 2.1 problems installing on Dell Laptop

Hi,

I have a Dell Laptop running windows xp sp2.

It was currently running Lola 300_11.1 without any problem.

I uninstalled Lola 3 - to install Lola 4.

The installation is successful, but when launching an error message indicating the program is unable to run because of a configuration problem and re-installing may resolve - but it doesn't.

I have re-installed win xp sp 2 from scratch and tried to install again on this 'new' machine, but the problem persists. If I uninstall and re-install Lola 3, it works .. Any ideas ?????

I have full admin rights on the machine, with no policies etc. but Lola 4 will not work ! I have also tried downloading again the Lola from BPWS, but still the same.

Thanks

Hi ..

After further investigation, I discovered the following :--

The reason Lola 4 would not work on a freshly installed machine is because of an error with shared DLL files. It would appear that Lola tries to use a version 8.0 VisualC++ DLL for CRT functions (its been developed in Visual C++ 2005). We get an error in the System Event viewer that says we have 3 x "SidebySide" errors...
1 x Generate Activation Context failed for <lola filepath>. Reference error message: The operation completed successfully.

2 x Resolve Partial Assembly failed for Microsoft.VC80.CRT. Reference error message: The referenced assembly is not installed on your system.

To get the DLLs we needed, we installed OMC on the machine and this resolved the issues ..

So it appears that Lola 400, has not been developed with the correct .dll's unlike Lola 300 !!!
