I would say first of all, it depend on the number of users you are going to have..

You lose a lot. First, do not forget that Unix versions are stoped and no more suported by Alcatel, so new features are only available on Linux Releases.
Some loses: IPTouch phones, LDAP, CPU7 Appliance Server, Direct RTP, AVA, SIP, SSH, Wifi,Remote V24 IP ports, OmniTouch Premium Edition, media gateways, ...

I found working with 4400 is quiet a fun it is really robust not prone to failures, whereas OXE(common hardware) is little trick, I dont feel on same comfort level while working OXE.

Using hardware of 4400 you can use OXE software, if you have a release over 5.1 it is an OXE. You can have all mentioned, OTUC, SIP, Appliance Server, LDAP, etc etc.

I also believe 4400 hardware is much stronger than Alize. however it is also much expensive. so considering the requeriments of the final user and enviroment you should see what hardware fits better.

All really depend on how many users you are going to handle, and what's your evolution plan..

Less than 200 users, I would go for a common harwdware. More than that, shot for the crystal technology
