Duplicate Linux configuration
Hi.
I'd like to know if some Linux configuration modification on main CPU (with CPU redundancy instaled) are automaticly replicated to Twin CPU. I have R6.1.1-f2.502-8-pl-c5s2/3 version. If not, it is possible to make some automat, or any modification on Main CPU, ie. disable any service, should I manually make on Twin CPU too.
Thanks for any ideas.
Regards Slawek

Hello..
I changed the default password on the main cpu, and it never went to the standby cpu. I believe you have to use swinst to do a CPU DUPLICATION (Linux data only).
If not, you can use something like rsync in between the 2 things, but you'll have to program a list of files to check.
What did you change ?

Hi Frank.
Till now I didn't change anything. But I was wondering if ie. I'll stop sendmail on Main CPU, on Twin CPU it stops automaticly. But as I see, it won't. So after any change in Linux configuration I have to run swinst and use /Expert menu/Cloning & duplicate operations/ or remember what I did and do it manually on Twin CPU. Am I right??

Yes, I know about that. But netadmin can only mange network parameters: IP, route, VLAN, etc. But what about other services ie. sendmail? At now, root account has some mails from cron and I'd like to redirect root account for my mail account to have all this messages. Or what about PAM authentication?? I'd like to have login access with Windows Active Directory Domain authorization. This is possible to configure but I don't know if it is safe for telephone application. Does Alcatel allow to make any changes in OS?? Did you make any Linux configuration modifications (install new services or programs, compile some new things) in Alcatel default environment and it works fine or rather not to tuch this?? Have you got any experiences in that field??

Regarding the PAM authencation, I tried to add users once, and there is a script that once you reboot delete all unknown users. I never tried to install anything else. Remember it's a difference architecture, you will need GCC if you want to compile on this box. You can try, but if I were you I would give it a shot on a lab. first... You don't want to screw up everything so nothing is working anymore and you'll have to reinstall all the OS and database. Be sure you make a BACKUP if you make any changes. Alcatel allow you to make changes in the OS, yeah.. but then it won't be supported anymore, lol.. If you do it, let us know. If I have some free time during the week end, I'll try too.

Well, as I see, Alcatel made some closed BOX. You can do what you want but after that, we don't help you anymore:))) In this situation, I'd rather not to tuch this Linux. Unfortunately, I don't have nonproductive environment to make some tests before doing something in live PABX. And making changes in productive environment maybe dangerous:))) Unless it is possible to run OXE on Virtual Machine like VMWare?? Does anybody try to do that??
