OTUC Installation

Dear fellow experts,

I have no experience at all on OTUC and really hope somebody could help me on this. I have been struggling with this problem for months and still couldn't get it work.

I have installed OTUC Linux Suite 3.0.7 on a IBM x226 XEON Server but could not get the OmniTouch UC Home Page running.

I followed the steps in the [OmniTouch UC R3 -LINUX: INSTALLATION AND ADMINISTRATION GUIDE R3.0.7 - EDITION 1 ] and in chapter 4_Installation_Linux_Suite.doc on page 24 it asked to verify if the homepage is running. I followed the instruction to open the URL http://otuc.company.com:8080 but it returned "Internal Server error".
On the other hand, the web administration "http://otuc.company.com:8083" is running perfectly, i.e. I can login and do some management from the website.

Also, I noticed that the apache2 service [failed] to start during booting everytime when I startup the server. Could this be the cause? And if it is, what should I look into in troubleshooting this problem.

Thank you very much for your help.

Hello,
have you done the Post Installation correctly ?

Hi Hobbls

Thank you for your reply. The post installation that you're refering to, is it the "Post Installation Configuration and Patch C Installation"? If it is, yes, I have done it without error.

From the documentation:[Before starting the post-installation script be sure that all tomcat application are deployed (minimum 5 minutes).
You can use top command to check process (use q to exit)]

==> I used the top command but didn't see anything spell close to tomcat. I waited for 5 minutes but still no sign of tomcat so I just launch the postinstall.sh.
==> postinstall.sh completed without error

One more thing would like to highlight here:
Everytime when connect to the url: http://otuc.company.com:8080 it will be directed to http://otuc.company.com:8080/authentica ... et/hompage before I get the "Internal Server Error" message. I wonder this is normal?

Thank you.

I had the same issue, so i wonder to ask the following:

Which server are you running? and which characteristics. Is it in the white list?

I had a customized server with the same problem. after several reinstalls i did an upgrade to the microproc and it worked ok.

As for your last question, yes it is normal, because the httpd daemon tries to send you to the tomcat server. And that is the point that fails.

Hi cavagnaro

Thank you very much for your reply.

I'm running the OTUC on an IBM x226 XEON 3.0Ghz Server with 2.0GB RAM and 80GB SATA Harddrive and .... it's not in the white list.
In the Alcatel documentation, the compliant platforms are IBMx305, IBMx306, IBMx335 and IBMx336. I wonder if these are the only 4 IBM models that I can run the OTUC with? What I'm confuse is that the documentation also stated that the minumum hardware requirements are
(1) Intel Pentium 4 XEON or AMD Athlon XP 2,4 Ghz
(2) 2 GB of RAM
(3) Hard disk size of 36 GB
which, my IBMx226 has it all.

By the way, cavagnaro, what microprocessor you had upgraded yours to before you got it work. Any chance that I can get my IBMx226 up with OTUC without needing to upgrade the microprocessor?...and is it true that the Linux Redhat will install the different modules on a machine based on the hardware that it detected?

Once again, thank you very much for your help.

When you install the OTUC and do the linux MPL370 for example the boot disk loads a specific configuration and drivers for that server, however documentation also says "for other just press enter" so i also understand that it can run in other servers.

One question when you modify your hosts file how does it looks like? can you post it here?

The micro upgrade that i did was from a 2.0Ghz to a 3.0Ghz, i seek for the one that was more like the one in the servers.

Regards
